This book sucked me in. I kept finding ways to return to the book instead of doing something else. That is a good sign and I wish more books grabbed me. It is one of the better fantasy books that I've read. The main characters were interesting as was the world building, magic, and sense of wonder.

It does have flaws though, so the 5 star rating on Goodreads is iffy.

One of these days I'll get better about writing what I like about books instead of only writing about the parts I don't like.

I'm 20% into book 2. It starts off slow, but so far, I do recommend this first book and this series. ...more "
