“Cristobalina, trostruka udovica, o kojoj se govorilo da ima papra u krilu, bila je najstarija kći Don Clementea. Ona je malog Azuleja, kojemu je majka umrla uskoro poslije poroda od neke nepoznate bolesti, odgojila kao prava majka.
