and my sister and my two attendants will mercifully not look at me because they are so embarrassed for me that all they can think to do is stare into their phones until the world ends.
This was a sweet, quick read for me. I enjoyed the eccentricities of Blix and loved reading about her Brooklyn brownstone and her mantras, passion for love and life, etc. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of character building for what turns out to be a major character. Without spoilers, I would have liked to "like" Patrick more than I did- and for that matter, I didn't end up liking the main character all that much either- for as much as I wanted to cheer her on, she was kind of awful along the way. Still, worth the read just to tuck the phrase "Whatever happens, love that," under my cap for future reference.
