So this one is probably my favorite in the author's Favorite series (see what I did there!). I generally am a big fan of the fake dating trope and if there's some added tension, like here with the characters' shared past and the second chance romance opportunity!
Add in some forced proximity, mutual pining and some meddling family members and suddenly the fake dating became a thing easier done on paper than in reality!

Easton got dumped by her almost-fiancé right before her best friend's wedding. Feeling very much like a scorned woman in the scenario she enlists Elijah, the reason for her biggest heartbreak to show the ex what a colossal mistake he made.
Elijah's asking for a hand in exchange for this - he needs to drive his grandma cross-country and in dire need someone to share the journey with!
As usually with these types of setups, this leads to big awakenings of the heart as both of them realize that past mistakes and happenings could be resurfacing while crammed together for a prolonged time.

Easton's self-discovery and the healing path she takes up while bantering and bickering with Elijah was really awesome to experience, even if the past hurt made my heart ache for her.
Elijah was a man obsessed, a kind but possessive MMC who - after the first chapters' contradictory description of this fact - I learned to really love and obsess over.
The family dynamics, the events leading up to the wedding and the sometimes really playful affairs within the narrative structure made My Favorite Fake Romance a truly enjoyable read. But of course, as it is with every Elizabeth O'Roark book, prepare yourself for some angst and drama.
