I LOVED Olive and Adam, both as individuals, and together, they are well-developed and very relatable, despite me not having half their scientific intelligence. Every time Olive was pondering too much on something or thinking the worst I felt called into question. The secondary characters are also memorable, I think Holden is my favourite (I haven't decided yet, but whatever), Malcolm and Anh add so much to the story and are a great support system for Olive.
As I've already mentioned, the writing style is one of the elements I enjoyed the most and it keeps you glued to this story. It's funny and clever and the narrative flows very smoothly. I read this novel in English, so I cannot comment on the Italian translation.
As much as I love the fake dating trope, and it is developed very well here, I can't stand the miscommunication trope, although in this case, it didn't weigh too heavily on me thanks to the writing and the hope for a positive ending.
Of course, it goes without saying that I will also read Ali Hazelwood's other books.

Ammetto che il romance non è il mio genere go-to, però quando i libri di questa categoria sono scritti bene li apprezzo tantissimo. Questo è uno di quelli. Partiamo dai personaggi però. Ho AMATO Olive e Adam, sia come singoli che insieme, sono ben sviluppati e molto relatable, nonostante io non abbia metà della loro intelligenza scientifica. Tutte le volte in cui Olive si faceva pare mentali o pensava il peggio mi sono sentita chiamata in causa. Sono memorabili anche i personaggi secondari, credo che Holden sia il mio preferito (non ho ancora deciso, ma in fondo chissene), Malcolm e Anh aggiungono tantissimo alla storia e sono un ottimo sistema di supporto per Olive. Come ho già accennato, lo stile di scrittura è uno degli elementi che ho apprezzato di più e che tiene incollati a questo libro. E' divertente, intelligente e la narrazione scorre in modo molto fluido. Ho letto questo romanzo in inglese, quindi non posso esprimermi sulla traduzione italiana.
Per quanto io ami il trope del fake dating, e qui viene sviluppato molto bene, non sopporto il miscommunication trope, anche se in questo caso non mi ha pesato troppo grazie alla scrittura e alla speranza di un finale positivo.
Ovviamente va da sé che leggerò anche gli altri libri di Ali Hazelwood. ...more "
