Okay so I didn't hate this??? Like the writing was awful and nothing truly made sense , but this was so entertaining to read. Everyone in this book was fucking insane. Like a bunch of popular girls just adopted this new girl, Sofia, into their friend group (very mean girls of them). Then a few days later Riley, the leader, sneaks into Sofia's house and takes her to this abandoned house to exorcise the weird girl. The only somewhat sane one was Sofia, but even she made dumb choices. This book was so gross and gory like I was gagging reading some of the descriptions of some of the torture that happened. Honestly I'm not mad at it. It was bad, but in a good way I guess.

I think this is a pretty solid Halloween read tbh. As long as you can get past the fact that the writing sucked and the characters and their backstories weren't really developed all that well this was an entertaining spoopy read.

Not sure what compelled me to reread The Merciless, but here I am. I feel like I had nearly the exact same experience I did in 2017. It's been so long since I last read it I didn't remember too much. I didn't remember how gruesome it was and I'm sure the parts that grossed me out were the same ones that did the first time I read them. This was a total chaotic mess that made me laugh at how silly and ridiculous it is. It's very campy.

I'm not sure how this spans into multiple books. I'm thinking the ending is supposed to open up to sequels, but it could've ended there and had been fine. I own the rest of the books so I do eventually want to read them. I'm curious about the direction of the story for sure. Maybe it'll take a more paranormal direction? Maybe there will be more demons and mean teen girls Sofia has to deal with. Idk. Guess I'll find out. ...more "
