But once I stopped comparing and started appreciating this book This book is so charming, it took me by surprise. In the beginning, I missed Her Bastard Bridegroom a lot. All I could think about was how much better that book was, as compared to this. But once I stopped comparing and started appreciating this book in its own right, I fell in love with it. I love how crazy the Vawdry brothers get for their wives, I love a man in love. Neither Mason nor Oswald could sleep without their wives after they got married, and that’s a detail of love I will carry with me to my grave. Oswald being a possessive bastard cured my forlorn heart. For all his talk of being the most even-tempered Vawdry, Fen really unhinged him, and for that, I will always be happy. She was his. Always. And will be his. Always. Everytime he got jealous over Ambrose or any one else, my heart skipped a beat. Can you believe the audacity of this man to suggest beheading Ambrose for being married to Fen (albiet illegally, but he didn't know that)? Unbelievable. I love my confused-in-love-but-trying-to-be-a-better-husband Oswald. The end when Oswald finally opens up to Mason and Roland is the highlight of my life. I was equal parts crying and laughing. I love these brothers. Mason and him were truly alike in their jealousy and I loved loved LOVED it. I can hardly wait for Roland to be this much of a buffoon in love.

P.S Talking about other men while being in intimate situations with their husband? Nobody does it better than Lin or Fen.

12/08/2020 reread: This book is still the cutest fucking thing. I love straight and sorted men feeling all sorts of messed up over the love of their life. Seeing Oswald at his wit's end is the highlight of this goddamn book. I LOVE my Vawdrys. So so SO much, it's insane.

I'm not going to lie, around 47 to 55 (ish) percent the book became a little boring and the plot felt a little dragged, but after that small hurdle, all was back to perfect in Ms. Alice Coldbreath's amazingly written world.

18/04/2024 reread: still cute. Still SO DAMN CUTE. I adore the Vawdry brothers and now I can't decide whether I want to reread Mason or Roland's book next. OR MAYBE SOMEONE ELSE ENTIRELY. I MISSED alice coldbreath, it's been a long long time ...more "
