While I have read some of these authors, there are also many on my to-read list, which made this an interesting way to get more of those I like and get an introduction to those I want to learn more about.

Honor & … by Sandra Brown and C.J. Box, a story of Lee Coburn and Joe Pickett, was a three-star rating. Sandra Brown is an author I have previously read a single book from and found it to be an enjoyable read, although it did not have me immediately diving into more. After reading this, I am curious about the Lee Coburn story. Likewise, C.J. Box left me eager to dive into the Joe Pickett books as I have never read them before. Honor & … was a nice introduction to both characters, allowing me to learn about them both while watching an interesting story play out. I will be honest and say I found it a little too quick and easy – there were some elements I wanted a bit more intensity from – but this was not enough to lessen my enjoyment.

Footloose by Val McDermid and Peter James, a story of Tony Hill and Roy Grace, was a four-star rating. Val McDermid is an author whose work I have previously consistently enjoyed, and I have been meaning to read the Tony Hill and Carol Jardan series for years (especially as I enjoyed the television series the books inspired). Peter James did not grab me with the first Roy Grace book, yet my enjoyment of this story has me considering giving it another try. Footloose was a story that hooked me with ease, leaving me rapidly turning the pages. It contained enough ridiculous feet puns to keep me smiling without taking away from the story, ensuring I could not get enough.

Faking a Murder by Kathy Reichs and Lee Child, a story of Temperance Brennan and Jack Reacher, was a four-star rating. Kathy Reichs is an author I have been meaning to read for years, especially as I enjoyed the Bones television series. Lee Child is an author I find to be a bit of a hit-or-miss for me, yet I repeatedly return to the Jack Reacher series as they hook me more often than not. Faking a Murder was a story that hooked me with ease, leaving me eager to see how things would come together. It had elements of what I (based upon what I know of the series) imagine to be strong examples of the Temperance Brennan stories that mixed well with the things I know are consistent with the Jack Reacher stories. Together, it made for an addictive read on multiple levels.
