In your reading life you will come across good books, bad books, just okay books, and amazing books. A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) isn’t any of those. ACOTAR is in a class of its own. It is in a class that leaves you speechless and in love. It 100% took my words because really how do you describe the perfect book? You don’t. But I will try.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is the story of Feyre, a normal girl living in a world that is split between human and Fae thanks to a 500 year old war. Feyre is the sole provider for her father and two sisters. One night, while hunting in the woods for food, she comes across a wolf and makes the decision to kill him, a decision that completely alters the course of her life. Soon Feyre is faced with the fate of her decisions; she must give her life for the life she took. She must go to the Fae world with Tamlin a Fae Lord and spend the rest of her days at his manner. As Feyre begins to grow close Tam and learn about his world and the evil that is brewing over it she must decide whether find a way to help him or lose him and his world forever.

Like I said, I don’t have the words to describe this perfect book. There was just so much I loved about it. I love the setting and the characters and the fairytale elements and the myth elements. I loved the why the plot unfolded and the pacing of it. I love the writing and the storytelling element. Sarah really created an amazing world with amazing people. Feyre, Tamlin, Lucien and Rhys all bring something different to the table and each play an important part in Feyre’s story. The way these characters are interwoven into each other’s lives will leave you hooked and wanting more.

And can we talk about the sexiness??? Wowza! I mean, I blushed in some parts. It was very feral and animalistic, but also tastefully done. It wasn’t added in the story as sex for sex sake like some stories do. It served a purpose and pretty fan worthy. I won’t say more about that, but just be prepared incase reading in public.

All I can say is ACOTAR is a magical reading experience. As a girl that loved Maas’ first fantasy series Throne of Glass, I loved ACOTAR even more. It hit me in all the right places. It left me breathless and awestruck and yearning for more. It broke my heart and made me laugh and smile and crushed me when it ended because it was over.
