The author clearly suffers from terminal boomerism and is incapable of acknowledging, let alone appreciating, any experience beyond his own. You'll read frequent characterizations of bitchy women and references to the savage jungles of Africa or Papua New Guinea as a contrast to metropolotan life in an American city.
The insights offered are still interesting and valuable, but the author's astounding ignorance (by modern standards) hampers their appreciation.
