I took a chance on this book by an author I had never read before (Kaely Rose) I found that it was her first publication. I am very glad I did go ahead and pick this book, as it was very enjoyable and the first part of a trilogy. Now I am looking forward to the next volume to come out... I have fallen in love with the two main characters Senrind and Carithway and need to know how the ending of book #1 turns out for the unlikely twosome, and how the story will continue. This book was such a pleasant surprise that caught me off guard, but it was perfect!

“2001, NOKIA CELLPHONE
His first cellphone was slipped
into his hands on September 12th,

He hears myths on the bus about Hussein.
He donates his piggy bank to Fire Station 86.
In it is a 20-dollar bill and purple
pieces of toy soldiers.
He wonders if the soldiers’ hearts exploded.
He wants them back in the piggy bank.”
Palmer Smith, The Butterfly Bruises
