“The Clauses left for the wilds none too soon as Beliach had sent his darkest agents to the north with the dreadful mission to find and slaughter every single infant boy in the land. This was the order, but to ensure of the child’s certain demise, they searched and slayed the infant boys in all the lands from the north to the south. Thus the New Year was brought in not with celebration and hope, but with cries of agony the world over in every home from cabins to castles, and in the absence of explanation for the slaughter a the dark belief spread that some terrible power had wrought horrible punishment on the people for their misdeeds. So it was, that to prevent a reoccurrence, the people agreed to improve themselves the next year and avoid the wrath of whatever power had brought this devastation. Today people continue this tradition known as “New Year’s resolutions,” although most are unaware of the horrific origins of the practice.”
