"I picked this book up because I was struggling over what I believed free speech to be and what it had become in my eyes at least. I don't think much of free speech when ideas of merit are suppressed by the religious majority because it challenges their belief system." Mar 27, 2014 01:06AM

"Depression can be very hard to overcome. I am in the midst of probably my 6th or 7th bout of clinical depression so I realise that simply popping Prozac is not an ideal solution. I have found that consistent exercise can be quite effective when done with antidepressants. But since my body is to broken to confine my beloved exercise I hope that the mindfulness techniques outlined in this book help." Nov 21, 2014 03:50AM

Albert Einstein
“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
Albert Einstein

Bertrand Russell
“Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.”
Bertrand Russell

Friedrich Nietzsche
“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

Albert Camus
“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend”
Albert Camus

Douglas Adams
“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
