Well, it took me a while longer than usual to get my read of this book finished (longer than I like tbh), but that's what happens when you work at a college and it's registration season. 😂 So after being able to function again, because the book hangover was real this time, I'm finally able to write this up. Whisper came out as a 5-star read for me and as usual, didn't disappoint.

I was actually doing a re-read of the series when this one came out, so I could be ready for it. Whisper, like all the other books can be read as a standalone, but really I think it's better if you read the others as they will give you a better insight into the other characters and their backgrounds. Plus, it helps with those little inside jokes and you had to be there comments.

Whisper is the 7th book in the Westbrook Elite series by Cambria Hebert. And this one starts off in a Rave and who doesn't love a good rave! The issues that are addressed in this book are eye-opening, especially with someone who struggles daily with some of them. It definitely sent me into a deep research hole, but one that I was grateful for.

Matthew Prism is introduced to us in book one and was pretty much a quiet character who seemed content to stay in the background, however, he started to pop up more and more in the next books. So much so that I was intrigued about when he would be getting his own book. He was never obvious about his interests, so we never really got a good view of him until WHOA when we began to see a new side of him come out. Unlike some of our other Elite bros, Prism is quiet and contemplative, but he had to learn to be. His best friends are Kruger and Jess who he's known since childhood.

Arsen Andrews is an almost total unknown, we see him a few times, but he does not pop up into view a lot. But boy does he make up for it in his possessiveness with Prism. He just seems to know what and when he's needed and I'm here for it! Now Arsen is someone who always gets what he wants and he's decided that Prism is it.

Now as with the others, when the shit hits the fan, the Elite members rally and surround their bros and make sure that they know that they will always be there for them. So when they find out that Prism has been arrested, they show up and as usual refuse to leave.

Now I've read the typical only one-bed trope and those are fun, but this was done differently, and there was only one bed... if you could call a cot in a jail cell a bed (I wouldn't), and it was beautifully written. And then we find out that the guys all waited for him to be released (plus Coach Landry... which I really didn't see coming), these guys give us the sweet side of themselves when we least expect it... not that we don't see it when they are with their people. We even see more of Jess and Prism's dynamic here too, where we get that brother-sister bond, which is adorable.

Prism's little quirks and habits become clearer than ever when we learn about his past. Also... I can totally understand why he's always wearing his AirPods (and why he has so many), I've picked me up a few pairs of Loops, because sometimes the world gets too loud and you need that quiet.

We get sweet and spicy in this one, and I am here for it! As usual, don't forget to check out all of Cambria's other books and series, you won't be disappointed! ...more "
