"I can’t stand the accent employed by the narrator. To be fair, I see what she’s trying to do, adapting a certain accent for the characters, but she keeps dropping syllables that I’m having a hard time following what’s being said sometimes. I’ll switch to reading this instead." Apr 14, 2026 07:14AM

Shannon L. Alder
“True self confidence happens when you stop blaming others for not seeing what you love about yourself. Not everyone has the same list of needs.”
Shannon L. Alder

Christopher Hitchens
“The essence of the independent mind lies not in what it thinks, but in how it thinks.”
Christopher Hitchens, Letters to a Young Contrarian

Victoria Schwab
“...it is sad, of course, to forget.
But it is a lonely thing, to be forgotten.
To remember when no one else does.”
V.E. Schwab, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

Guillermo del Toro
“Trolls have existed on this planet for as long as humans. This is what I was told and what I translated to Tub. The first mention of them in recorded history is from ninth-century Norway, when the nefarious creatures began showing up in song, verse, and bedtime stories to keep misbehaving children in line. According to Norse folklore, trolls are one of the Dark Beings, the purest embodiments of evil, and they scurried from between the toes of Ymir, the mythic six-headed Frost Giant whose murdered body became the universe in which we live; his bones became the mountains, his teeth boulders, and so forth.”
Guillermo del Toro, Trollhunters

Patricia Briggs
“It's only fair to warn you that you sealed your fate tonight. When you knew you were in trouble, you came to me. That makes twice, Mercy, and twice is almost as good as a declaration. You are mine now.... Ben says you might run. If you do, I will find you and bring you back. Every time you run, Mercy. I won't force you, but. .. No more excuses, Mercy. You are mine, and I am keeping you.”
Patricia Briggs, Iron Kissed
