"This book is definetly a fictional. I think that it has two subgenres. Action and science fiction. It is not that hard to tell. First of all, there are still things like cars and helicopters, showing that it is still realistic, but it still has aliens and plasma blasters. It is a quest filled with duels, fights, and stories like the one about Percy's birth being an accident. This backstory "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan, is an action packed, adventurous book, filled with mysterious information and backstories. It is a quest filled with duels, fights, and stories like the one about Percy's birth being an accident. This backstory made you feel kind of sad, because it is definitely hard hearing that you were and accident. In the book, Zeus's master bolt and Hades's helm of darkness are stolen. Percy, the son of Poseidon, is framed for it. His quest is to recover the missing items and to prove his innocence. But he could not do it alone, for he had two people, Grover and Annabeth, help him. Grover is an awkward satyr who likes to eat tin cans. And Annabeth is an intelligent young girl who can be kind of a buzzkill. But there are more things that make this such a great book.

Percy is a Demi-God and the son of Poseidon. And although he is a son of a God, he is a troublemaker. One time, in school, his entire class went on a field trip to Sea World, and let's just say that he caused the entire class to "take a swim" in the shark tank. When I read this in the book, I laughed out loud and I thought to myself,"Well that was stupid". But aside from the nonsense that he causes, he is kind, courageous, and a good person. For instance, at his most recent school, he would always protect his friend from anyone hurting him, mentally or physically. But Percy had other people on his quest, one of them being Grover. He is a satyr (a magical being that is half horse and half man). Grover is Percy's best friend from his most recent school. Grover is a shy and timid boy, and he claims that he wants to go on the hunt to find the God of the Wild, Pan. When he said this, I thought that Grover had gone a little insane. This is because Pan was actually dead. The other person that helped Percy, was Annabeth. She is the Demi-Goddess and the daughter of Athena. When Percy first meets her, she is always moody and upset. It almost seems like she didn't want to be there, which was not true, for that place (Camp Half-Blood) was her only home. But when he actually gets to know her, he learns that she is a nice, interesting person. I personally thought that she would eventually become a nicer person later in the book, which is exactly what happened.

I genuinely enjoyed this book. It gave all different kinds of emotions. Moments such as Percy's mother's death made me sad, Percy meeting his dad made me happy, and Grover's awkwardness made me laugh. Sometimes, the decisions Percy makes, even got me trying to talk him out of it. For example, when he was contemplating whether to stay in the Vegas hotel or not. I was saying,"You better leave, because if you don't, you're going to die!" But it was a great book, and anybody who liked the "Harry Potter" series, or any action-packed, adventurous book, would definitely enjoy the amazing tale of "The Lightning Thief" because it is full of magic and mythical creatures, and it has the action aspect to it as well. But overall, this is a great book. ...more "
