"An informative and poetic book!! This is required reading for those living in Australia, planning to hike or walk around Australia, or want to live there. Gammage illustrates how the Australian Aborigines managed the land. Once you understand how they are masters of the fire, you can easily see how they have intimate knowledge of a large swath of land, plants, and animals. Astonishing work!" — Jul 26, 2025 07:43AM

"Right on the money. Very nostalgic. I used to watch subtitled Hong Kong police movies and series on betamax and VHS. They were very popular in the region precisely because the police figures were fighting for the victims of the mob, murderers, kidnappers...sometimes in the grey zone. That's why the most popular canto actors became top in their field. The first story reminded me of that and the last detective novel." — Apr 28, 2022 10:10PM

"Still a lot of chapters but his section on control posits the meat of his arguments on the scenarios of danger. How AI can be tweaked to do blackmail. But that this has been going on in advertising and propaganda. I like his point on the dangers of living in a surveillance society and one scenario, even in a positive reinforcement one, of the right to mental security. That is, living in a right information environmen" — Apr 09, 2021 10:27PM
