This books takes us through the various stages of a relationship, from being single and happy, flirtatious, first dates, second dates, talking stages, ghosting, long- and short-term relationships, the bumps along the way, heartbreak, bouncing back, and most importantly: friend love and self-love. Each chapter starts with a list of "rules", not a black-and-white list on how to be successful in that specific area, but suggestions and things to keep in mind that guided Eli to where she is today. A bad-ass, confident woman who does not hold back.

Eli shows immense vulnerability on every page of this book by sharing her personal stories in the aforementioned experiences. She then shares lessons, wisdom, and advice she gained from that life experience, which is where she weaves in the "rules" we find at the start of each chapter. Sometimes she learned it as it happened, other times it took a few years. But now she is sharing it with us. And wow (iykyk). I feel lucky to be in a generation where so many people, not just Eli Rallo, care enough about their audience, the world in general, and future generations to share their lessons-learned with us.

At the end of the day, this book gave me the gentle reminder that life is meant to be lived and loved for everything that it is. Dating in your 20s doesn't have to be a dreadful shit show that we are just trying to push through until we find our person. Dating apps do not have to be embarrassing or a last-resort (embarrassment is a choice). Failed relationships do not have to be something we regret and cause us to feel shame. These are all essentially unavoidable parts of life that, with the right perspective and support and self-love, we can learn to enjoy. Because they are all stepping stones that will lead us to the place and the person we are meant to be.

"The end goal should never be forever. Instead, our outlook should be a consistent hope that we learn something, about ourselves and about others, and that each connection we make to another person is a step in the direction toward the goodness we deserve."

Every day, her words remind me that I am enough, that life truly begins when I stop wasting my energy trying to be "more" or "less" of certain things. I don't need to be more outgoing, I don't need to be less talkative, I don't need to be prettier or thinner or smarter or older or younger or more experienced or less naive or ANYTHING. I because I am Caroline, and Caroline is every part of my brain and my body and my heart and my mind. And f*** anyone who thinks that is too much or not enough.
