I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Marie Hawkins. As always, she killed it. I absolutely love listening to any story she narrates. Her telling sucked me into an already amazing story and I was captivated.

This story follows Rylee. It starts out with her living with her neglectful boyfriend and hiring a PI to find her sister who has gone MIA after a distraught message she sent to Rylee. The PI turns up nothing because the sister, Holly, is basically untraceable. After her meeting with the PI she gets a call from her sister saying to go off grid and meet her at a specific location because she needs Rylee's support after she found out her husband was murdered. Rylee drops everything and heads to meet her. When she arrives she has so many questions for Holly but tries not to rock the boat since her husband just died and just tries to be there for her. As time goes on and she ends up staying for a few months, she starts getting immersed in the town and some of the townspeople. Unfortunately, there are so many secrets and Rylee is determined to unravel them and finally get some answers.

This story gave me Ravenhood secret society vibes and I was here for every second of it. Rylee is one tough FMC. She has amazing morals and whether she's afraid or not she always strives to do the right thing. She has such a big heart and I loved her. Her sister, Holly, was getting on my last nerve though. She's kept Rylee in the dark for so long and when Rylee drops everything for her, she is still so tight-lipped. I get she was trying to protect her the best way she could but the way she went about it was all wrong.

Colton was on my good and bad side. He was such a dick during the beginning of the book and was so hot and cold it was hard to keep up with him. But as more things were revealed I started to understand him more. But still, the hot and cold was aggravating.

The side characters in the Jackals were amazing and I have to say that my favorite was Minho. I loved that dude. Jack was also such a great father figure for Rylee.

The sheriff, though, ohh man. I wished for his demise through everything. Can you say corrupted? Man, that dude was horrible inside and out. The diner owner wasn't much better either. I will say though, the twist about the boyfriend was insanely predictable and I clocked that from the beginning.

How this book ended! The cliffhanger! That hurt. I wasn't ready. That was just painful. I am utterly and completely hooked. I am dying to find out what happens in the next book.
