"At 20 percent I read the blurb to find out where this is going. At the moment it feels like a travel guide, describing the city and customs." Jan 01, 2026 07:42AM

"Being on another hemisphere, It is smart to check the atlas when describing the scope of your research. From Italy to Sweden? You mean they exclude Norway? I think not. Next, they define their scope as 'from Scotland to Sicily'. Which excludes the whole Eastern part of Europe. But soon it becomes clear they should have said 'Crete', as it is 1000 kilometer farther to the East, and they do include the East." Mar 18, 2025 01:01AM

“The tought that some people might be so ignorant as to think someone can be "turned" gay had just never crossed my mind. Who thinks this crap? Like homosexuality is a contagious disease. And if it was contagious, wouldn't a group of us have left packages of infected plaid shirts and jock straps lying around to turn the guys we wanted?”
John Goode

Robin Hobb
“In that last dance of chances

I shall partner you no more.

I shall watch another turn you

As you move across the floor.

In that last dance of chances

When I bid your life goodbye

I will hope she treats you kindly.

I will hope you learn to fly.

In that last dance of chances

When I know you'll not be mine

I will let you go with longing

And the hope that you'll be fine.

In that last dance of chances

We shall know each other's minds.

We shall part with our regrets

When the tie no longer binds.”
Robin Hobb, Fool's Fate

Charlie Adhara
Fetch me that flower; the herb I showed thee once. The juice of it on sleeping eyelids laid, will make man or woman madly dote upon the next live creature that it sees.
Cooper had frowned at the tv, trying to follow the loopy language.
"So basically he's telling that naked kid to go get him a roofie?"
Park had punched him lightly and readjusted on the couch so that his head was in Cooper's lap facing the TV. "It's not a roofie, it's Cupid's flower. Love-in-idleness."
"A flower that drugs you into thinking you are in love. Uh-huh, right. So are there Athenian police in this forest or what?”
Charlie Adhara, The Wolf at Bay

Cat Sebastian
“Caleb was being wilfully obtuse.
Caleb hated when people were willfully obtuse. There were enough tragically stupid people in the world without having anyone indulge in recreational stupidity.”
Cat Sebastian, Peter Cabot Gets Lost

S.E. Harmon
“The obstetrician thought I was a breech but I had my nose in a book.”
S.E. Harmon, The First and Last Adventure of Kit Sawyer
