This book reminds me that even if I thought my childhood was unusually bad, there’s always a worse case that makes me realize mine wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. This author is is detailed in her description of how difficult it was day to day, yet how little she understood as to why she received the treatment she did by her monster of a mother. I think in the end, we were all relieved to see her escape what seemed to be inescapable & find a sense of normalcy in her chaotic, difficult, sad & misunderstood world.
