Every lady should be so fortunate to have a Mr Dillard.
I’m not sure how I feel about this. There are plenty of men that had to pass as straight at the time. Revealing one’s homosexuality often meant death for a gay man - it can still. But my point is you brought a gay man into this story and that could have been great, but instead you turn him into a caricature, like a doll to dress up.
As the mother of a gay son, this is really offensive to me. Could you possibly be any more lazy than to do this? Or is this the only way you can have a gay man as a character in a JAFF story? Any real dimension and depth would just make the pearl clutchers go into a tizzy and say you had an “agenda” trying to make gay men seem like real people, I guess.
