Okay so first of all I am so glad I read this Very rarely do I finish a book do I go back to the first page and start again. But with this book that is exactly what I did. Where do I start from, wow, how do I put in words what this book means to me?

Okay so first of all I am so glad I read this during Ramadan. I mean what a perfect time to read such an amazing, insightful book. I am also so grateful that I had the opportunity and to read it so early on in my life because this book is so powerful that I feel like I am a different person then I was when I first read this book.

Yesterday I had a live lecture with Yasmin and Dalia, and when talking about this book Dalia said something that I thought was so fitting she said, “this book is a mixture of life experiences with lived knowledge and that’s why it touches people’s hearts. That is why it speaks to people because we learn from vulnerability.”

This book is such a gem, and I am so glad that Yasmin wrote it and shared her personal insights and vulnerability and put it out to the world. This book spoke to me when I was re-connecting with my religion and my Lord. This book soothed my soul when it somehow knew I needed reassurance or the ayah she spoke of is the one that I somehow never knew I needed to know. Reading every word, every sentence, every paragraph, every page, I felt as if she was sitting in front of me and saying exactly what I needed to hear. Not in a self-righteous way but in a ‘I have been through this, so you don’t have to way.’

I felt like she was my best friend giving me advice that speaks straight to my heart and gives me a new vision. I didn’t doubt any word she said because of the references to the Qur’an and the hadith’s which gives this book another layer because not only does she pick out such beautiful and profound ayah’s, but she also quotes from the religious sources because they give evidence to what she is saying. They also allow me to go back to these sources and look at it in a different way with more love, more meaning, more understanding, more respect for my beautiful religion.

The way she writes is so beautiful and effortless, the analogies, metaphors, similes all are so touching and moving. Her words are so real and practical. And my emotions were on such a rollercoaster as I was reading this book. It’s just ever y thing to me.

Yasmin, honestly, I cannot thank you enough, from the bottom of my heart thank you, thank you, thank you. This book is one I will turn to time and time again and one which I will be recommending to everyone. I feel like you’re my best friend (even though you probably don’t know of my existence, but we can just overlook this) and these words I will treasure and will always return to.

Jazakillah Khair sis for your beautiful words and I make ample Dua for you always but especially during this blessed month. May Allah grant all your Dua’s and give you nothing but happiness and love. How beautiful would it be if we could meet in Jannah, I can only make Dua.

Most of the times I end with my favourite quotes in the book are… but I can’t with this book because I don’t think GR would allow me to re-write the whole book but what I can say is *this book is a MUST READ*. I would say this is a universal read, however it should come with a disclaimer that non-Muslims may not get the references Yasmin makes to religious sources so may find it difficult to grasp. This is probably my first self-help book I have picked up and honestly, I don’t regret it (yes I am a cop-out because I did pick up a self-help book where I already knew the author’s work, call me biased and what.)

Yasmin, massive love, hugs and Dua’s coming your way.
