"*spoilers ahead, I guess*
me, perfectly fine at the beginning of the book: oh, that sucks that his crew died.
me, with literal t e a r s going down my face: omg this poor rock, he's all alone becuz his crew died
not to be dramatic but I love this rock and id never hesitate to watch him sleep.

And so he remained for more than half an hour, lingering between life and death, writhing before our eyes.
And we were forced to look at him at close range. He was still alive when I passed him. His tongue was still red, his eyes not yet extinguished.
Behind me, I heard the same man asking:
"For God's sake, where is God?"
And from within me, I heard a voice answer:
"Where He is? This is where--hanging here from this gallows..."
That night, the soup tasted of corpses.”

“If all the world hated you and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved of you and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends.”
