So, this is it, the sixth and final book in Cassandra Clare’s young adult paranormal/fantasy/amazingly awesome series, The Mortal Instruments. The whole series up to this point has been the most amazingly terrific thing that I have ever sat for hours staring at. Well guess what. This book was no different. Cassandra Clare managed to take my extremely high expectations and met them and probably even surpassed them. This book was 725 pages of absolute beauty. In my life, I have been extremely excited for and anticipated the release of three books this much. I have awaited three finales this much. Only two of them have exceeded my expectations, and this one was by far the best.
I don’t even know what to say. This book had everything that any Cassandra Clare book had: white-knuckled action, blistering romance, horrible betrayal, lovable characters, hateable characters, etc. There were moments that were intense, sweet, funny, scary, heartbreakingly sad, etc. etc. etc. I have no clue anymore...I love this book so much and this series is my absolute favorite now.

OK SERIOUSLY, HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD

So, I wanna talk about deaths... I can only think of four major deaths that happen in this book. Maybe I’ll think of more later, but not sure.
Jordan: So, I seriously wanted to cry when Jordan died...in Maia’s arms. I loved them so much together and I thought Jordan was so cool. Then, when Maia announced she was gonna breakup with him, I was so sad, but I have to admit, that as much as I loved her and Jordan together, I think I love her and Bat together even more.
Maureen: This, I have to admit was hilarious. I loved how great and clever Maia and Lily were in this. This was awesome and Maureen was crazy anyway.
Raphael: This, I’m pretty sure, was the saddest death as a death itself in the book to me. I thought Raphael was awesome when we first met him in City of Bones, but then I didn’t like him at all. I didn’t like him for seriously like the next 4 books until this one. Though he was self-serving and sometimes just plain mean, he was a good guy.
Jonathan/Sebastian: Sebastian’s death was a yay and hoorah moment, but when Jonathan was lying there, dying, I wanted to cry. The demon poison had burned away and he was just the brother Clary would never have and the son that Jocelyn would never have. It was sad, especially when he said that he believed that somewhere, there was a universe where they were brother and sister and loved each other, and oh I just wanted to bawl. I was so hoping they would figure out how to save him, save Jonathan so they could end up being real brother and sister, but alas, that would be too perfect, too fairytale, and I understand that Cassandra Clare is not a fake, oh-everything-ends-perfectly-and-everyone-is-happy kind of author and that’s great and I understand.

STILL MORE SPOILERS (seriously, if you haven’t read the books...do not continue:)

This book was probably the best book I’ve ever read. I so wish that it was not the end, and who knows? Maybe Cassandra Clare will change her mind again like after City of Glass and write more books in the series, but I don’t think so. I mean, I would love it, but all good things must come to an end I suppose. And, there’s always The Dark Artifices about Emma and Julian starting out next years, and The Last Hours and The Wicked Powers in the future. *Just a little suggestion for Cassandra Clare :) It would be really cool if you wrote more about Bat and Maia and the pack...just saying...And I really wanna know what happens with Simon’s training because I think that could be so awesome...At least short stories haha...Just suggestin’... :)*

If you haven’t read anything by Cassandra Clare...Then you shouldn’t have read this already, but you should definitely read those! City of Bones is the first one in this amazing series. READ IT PLEASE!! :)

Cassandra Clare has already written The Mortal Instruments (City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and City of Heavenly Fire) and the prequel series, The Infernal Devices (Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess).
OHMYGOSH...as I’m looking for the future release dates of Clare’s upcoming books, I find on Goodreads that she has announced a super-secret project of short stories about Simon Lewis. THANK YOU CASSANDRA CLARE FOR ANSWERING MY HOPES AND DREAMS.
Aaannnyyywwaaayyy... the first book in Cassandra Clare’s new middle-grade series Magisterium with Holly Black, called The Iron Trial, will come out September 9th, 2014.
And, Lady Midnight, the first book in the sequel series of The Mortal Instruments surrounding the Los Angeles Institute will be released in 2015, fall according to the end of City of Heavenly Fire.

Last thing: Thank you Cassandra Clare. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for writing my favorite books ever :) ...more "
