What another amazing installment to the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas! I think what most impresses me about Sarah J. Maas and her wiring is the complexity she holds throughout a series. Especially exemplified in this book, Maas makes connections that readers would never see coming. She takes a sentence, or a comment from the beginning of the book or even from a previous book, and pulls it all together in the end to form an intricate and emotional web of relationships. Along with excellent plot and storyline, this book really dives into the character development of already known and loved characters, as well as many new characters. This book introduces readers to Rowan's cadre which includes characters such as Fenrys, Gaviel (LOVE) and Lorcan (who we already kind of know, but I really got to love him in this book). One character that I was a little surprised about was Dorian. I have never been a HUGE fan of him, but his growing relationship with Manon really intrigued me and I can't wait to see where it ends up. Along with Dorian/Manon, the relationship between Lorcan and Elide was expected in my point of view, but I still loved reading about every second of it! Finally, although it is not a romantic relationship, I really hope to see more interaction between Gavriel and Aedion (I already know what happens in the end of Kingdom of Ash, but I want to see some stuff happen in-between for them. OH, and Aedion and Lysandra's relationship is to die for! Empire of storms ends with all of these relationships being blown apart, but I have faith that Sarah J. Maas will not leavers her readers heartbroken, and will bring them back together.
I'm not going to lie, (although I already knew this was coming) I completely lost it when it was announced that Feyre and Rowan were mates and that Maeve had lied to Rowan about Lyria. What I did NOT see coming was Rowan and Aelin getting married in secret so that Rowan could become King of Terrasen once Aelin was gone! Heart = shattered!
The way this book ended with all of the characters branching off to gather their armies, and Lysandra posing as Aelin, I could not be more excited to begin the next book!!!!! ...more "
