“Chemistry is you touching my arm and it setting fire to my mind"
Nayyirah Waheed”
― Nayyirah Waheed

“You don’t have to act crazy anymore—
We all know you were good at that,

Now retire, my dear,
From all that hard work you do

Of bringing pain to your sweet eyes and heart.

Look in a clear mountain mirror
See the beautiful ancient warrior
And the divine elements
You always carry inside

That infused this universe with sacred life
So long ago”
― Hafiz, I Heard God Laughing: Poems of Hope and Joy

“I thought: please don’t grow
familiar. I think I said it out loud:
Please don’t let me love you
that horrible way.”
― Olena Kalytiak Davis, And Her Soul Out Of Nothing

“Why did I allow myself to be bored ever in the past and to compensate for it got high or drunk or rages or all the tricks people have because they want anything but serene understanding of just what there is, which is after all so much.”
― Jack Kerouac, The Subterraneans
