"slow going as it's too simple to be the main dish. but still a bit interesting so I chip away at a chapter a day. i do feel a longing to finish so i can claim to have finished it...mainly i am intrigued by the cultural difference. Erica Bauermeister
“Her song was so beautiful that it could take people back to all the things they wished they had done, and all the things they wished they could be.”
Erica Bauermeister, The Scent Keeper

Kristin Hannah
“Vianne didn’t hesitate. She knew now that no one could be neutral—not anymore—and as afraid as she was of risking Sophie’s life, she was suddenly more afraid of letting her daughter grow up in a world where good people did nothing to stop evil, where a good woman could turn her back on a friend in need. She reached for the toddler, took him in her arms.”
Kristin Hannah, The Nightingale

Azar Nafisi
“It is not accidental that the most unsympathetic characters in Austen's novels are those who are incapable of genuine dialogue with others. They rant. They lecture. They scold. This incapacity for true dialogue implies an incapacity for tolerance, self-reflection and empathy.”
Azar Nafisi, Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books

Maria Montessori
“A teacher simply assists him at the beginning to get his bearings among so many different things and teaches him the precise use of each of them; that is to say, she introduces him to the ordered and active life of the environment. But then she leaves him free in the choice and execution of his work.”
Maria Montessori, The Discovery of the Child: formerly entitled "The Montessori Method"
