I thoroughly loved reading this electrifyingly crime thriller which had me hooked right from the first page! I really liked DS April Fisher and the rest of the team seemed to work as well. The storyline was gripping and it was like being on a roller coaster with the twists and turns as well as the pace which was pretty fast. I felt as though the author had done some research for this story before writing it as the more you read, the more questions it throws up that you want answers to. I found I just didn’t want to put the book down as I wanted those answers! Plus I wanted to know where Abigail was! It was a terrific plot that had been brilliantly written in my mind and extremely well thought out. Some chapters were short, which is what I like. The characters are well described and some of the back biting is great between the in-laws when they are trying to rile each other in front of the police. Everything is described in great detail. It’s a great storyline which is a great start to a new series. This is a new author for me and I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story featuring Tom Naylor, who started life as a PC in Nottingham then after four years he applied for a transfer to the Special Operations Unit and was successful. He thought it may have been because he was an ex-paratrooper and firearms trained. He joined SOU, C Division and partnered Matt Jarvis as a sniper. They go on some interesting ops and training missions. Matt’s wife is a lawyer and is on a high profile case against a drug gangster who is appealing his original sentence of life. She has been receiving threatening phone calls but not against her, they constantly tell her where Matt is and how easy it would be to get to him. She doesn’t know what to do as they told her not to tell anyone so she hasn’t. Not even Matt. He thinks she’s having an affair and Tom can tell it’s getting to him. Then there’s the burglaries that are happening in Nottinghamshire where money is being taken from the safes but nothing else! Although the increasing violence against the house occupiers is worrying the officer on the case and she’s hoping that the information she has been given will help her catch the culprits before they kill someone. I was hooked on this story right from the very start and I found it impossible to put the book down as I wanted to know what happened next. This was a brilliantly written story that was extremely well plotted and thought out. The chapters told you exactly where you and when. The characters were totally realistic and interacted well together. The story was very descriptive and everything was described in detail. It makes Nottinghamshire seem drug fuelled. I liked that it was set in the past. I’m looking forward to reading my next installment from this trilogy.
