Take 1 annoying, young, self-righteous heroine. Add 1 hero who spends 50 pages max with the heroine, disappears halfway through only to be reunited with said heroine 10 pages from the end. Add a plethora of side characters whose deaths are used to manipulate sympathy for the annoying heroine. Add 1 sexy as hell, multifaceted villain/anti-hero whose downfall brought me to tears. Mix w/ uneven pacing and plotting. Resu

Enter Court Saunders, the foreman of Miranda's mines and lover to her sister Reina. Blond, panther-like and selfishly evil, his sensual presence is almost irresistible. But Miranda lives Trace, the enigmatic yet noble pistolero. Me, I'll take wicked, sexy Court. But we know who Miranda and Reina both want...

Going through my books looking for what I started reading & forgot & there are quite a few of these as usual! I skimmed this one all the way through and already know what I'm in for. I'm not loving the hero so far, and the villain is way more exciting! Why can't I read books how a normal person does?

Pretty eye opening as to what was going on south of the border. Appears Jeanne Williams did her homework

I take it back,(h) is showing her backbone and some grit...she just might make it in 1903 Mexico after all... The story is pulling me in now. Violence and killing, it seems the Mexican soldiers have mutilation down pat. The Yaquis use machetes rather than the bows and arrows of the plains indians...if I remember my history, rebellion and war is just around the corner

Things are moving way too fast in this story. Told in the heroines 1st person POV, still get a pretty good idea of what's going on with the other characters...Trace Winslade the Tejano Pistolero...heroine's bitch of a sister, Reina (overused cliche plot crap here)....heroine, Miranda, too naive and stupid to live long in the turn of the 20th century, Mexico....
