This chapter was a bit confusing for me. It looks at 3 movements from around 1820-1861. And a lot of these movement have strong similarities. Where it's confusing for me is how the differences, small as they may be, make them distinct from one another.

The introduction to this book, in my opinion, is the most important aspect of this book. It outlines all the components of right-wing populism, explaining them well, and showing how they can manifest in real life. Lastly, the subtitle "Too Close for Comfort," is supported by how they outlined it in the book.
