High time for the only two characters with a can-do attitude in any given book to single-handedly wrench the plot into overdrive!

It’s really just insult to injury that Crypt Kicker has to be in EVERY story in this, when his entire character concept is, essentially, a less sexy+interesting (physically, morally, narratively) version of Demise. the WILD CARDS world yearns for the living corpse loose cannon archetype, not that one though!

“You’re a good man, Gregg Hartmann. No matter what happens, I appreciate all you’ve done.”
She smiled again, a flash of teeth, and went back inside. Gregg stayed out in the night for a long, long time.

They can put as many pointless Mark Meadows stories in here as they want, it will not distract from what this series has always been about (old people who suck so bad finally doing something almost good)

I really wish Victor Milan would stop writing for this series
