The perfect day dream in the coma

What the hell does Catherine mean? Carl knows it’s a dream, but he wants to feel it with her
It’s a dream / fantasy in his head sp us that why she says its not perfect?

Carl seems to know he’s in a Coma now, treating it as a dream like state he has some control over, doesn’t have / remember all details, but has significant memories

Who is catherine? Lover? Secretary?

Carl was qt friends house and left suddenly to go back to hospital - very detached and uncaring . Car trying to turn in a narrow road - other drivers honking - eventually drives u to Carl and tells him to get in. Says he is his nurse from hospital and he meeds to go back urgently.

Carl says he doesn’t like coffee (creates mistrust in me personally)
His friend Anthony makes him black coffee as he has no milk and it is repulsive to him - comments that they’ve know each other for years and he should know he doesn’t like it
Illustrated and these pictures have a quality from childhood books - adults seem small and childlike

A haze after Carl intervened in a mugging on the tube. Attacked with knives, punches snd kicks. Unconscious- questioning if he’s conscious or dreaming now
