برای آن که پیش افتاده ترین رویداد به ماجرایی مبدل گردد، باید و همین بس که به نقل کردن آن پرداخت. این همان چیزی است که مردم را گول می‌زند: انسان همیشه نقال داستان است. او در احاطه‌ی داستانهای خودش و داستانهای دیگران زندگی میکند، هرچه را که برایش رخ می‌دهد از خلال این داستانها میبیند و میکوشد تا زندگیش را طوری بگذراند که گفتی مشغول نقل کردن آن است.
اما باید انتخاب کرد: زندگی کردن یا نقل کردن!!

The protagonist believes he hasn't had any real adventures during his travels. Some experiences are slightly more noteworthy than others, but nothing extraordinary, according to him. This clearly illustrates the depression into which this man has sunk, as he doesn't consider any of his experiences abroad to be anything special.

The protagonist observes the self-taught man with a certain admiration for all he has managed to read, which he reads alphabetically. The protagonist is someone who spends his time writing, so it makes sense to me that he admires people who read voraciously.
