Status Updates From Northanger Abbey

ENGL 3300 — I have 9 pages left in the story and I am slowly being lost. I have loved the book so far but I am honestly confused. Hopefully Austen brings it together with these last two chapters!! For the class I’m reading this for itself — I am getting frustrated.

Isabella needs to be allowed to say acc she does need a stable partner but she can’t because of the etiquettes of their century that still continues today. Catherine hinting to Isabella + asking others to speak to Tilney to stop, everything except speak plainly to her. Not distantly, not through others, but directly. This is why neurodivergent folks challenge these customs which end up having serious outcomes.

Starts with a banger first line, ends with a banger last line which gives more meaning to plot.

As perfect a novel as any I have read. It's not a romance, not really, really, but I did not needed it to be. And it is so so good at so many things I love the unreliable narrator, the humor, the breaking the 4th wall, the awareness of genre tropes and intentionally breaking them...
