Rhys chose to tell a story featuring A LOT of PTSD and homophobia (some transphobia too) but I don’t think they understand anything about those three things. It seems like they had great intentions but failed to consult a therapist on this. It all seems very messy

Already made my guess at who caused the murder. Let’s see if I’m right!

I love the genderqueer representation with Scarlet’s character but I’m disappointed in how Rhys even after referring to Scarlet as her would still say she’s “a man beneath the dress.” There are other moments of misgendering Scarlet that give me the serious ick

Sometimes having a shitty memory is a blessing. I listened to these years ago and apparently, I remember nothing. So I get the full enjoyment again. (Yes, I have also watched every episode of Midsomer Murders at least three times ;))

Someone do a wellness check on the author. Why are bulletholes being described so vividly?! Check in. Blink three times if you need help.

Cole is the worst PI. He is lead by "his sex" and he is clueless

I didn't like this story. The tropes were too much. The relationship didn't feel earned.

Questo libro sia per la parte thriller che per quella romance mi sta piacendo un sacco. Vediamo alla fine, ma per ora un grande OK

I understand this book is 11 years old, but at the same time, I have a hard time forgiving a gay romance its repeated use of borderline slur language ("ladyboy") and writing an offended reaction by the narrator when Scarlet admits that she thought he might be asexual. As an asexual person, it's hurtful to read, "It was one thing to be taunted about being gay, but to be asexual was too much of an insult."
