Status Updates From Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyph...

Okay, now I found a typo in the answers at the back - and if I can spot an error, there must be plenty more that got by me.
I'm back working on this because I'm teaching ESL now and I suggested that my students practice for a half an hour every day - and I don't expect them to do more than I do, so it's back to hieroglyphs. I set a timer on my phone and a half an hour goes pretty darn fast. I'm on the last chapter.

Honestly, I'm still working on this. It's hard to read hieroglyphs from photos of monuments. Argh!

I restarted this because the Joseph Campbell book had some Egyptian drawings and I wondered if I could work out the hieroglyphs. Nope. Heh.

Plowing on. Pharaoh names are a pain. They have to look pretty so the hieroglyphs aren't in any order (other than Re in first position although read last). Cleopatra and Tutankhamen are easy. The "L" in Cleo is a lion - fair enough, but the lion glyph also represents rw. Egyptians didn't need an "L" until the Greeks took over. Then it's Cleos and Ptolemys over and over.

Great fun, but very poorly edited. Chapter 18 is labeled 20. Exercises are missing. Hieroglyphs are tiny tiny and it's sometimes difficult to tell one damn birdie from another. That, however, could be cataracts.
