How can he get it and not get it both at the same time?
I can’t tell if he’s writing his own opinions or reporting people’s opinions throughout history.

I’m not fond of some of the author’s opinions, especially how every time he mentions Europe he insists that it was the model of political advancement in any era, in contrast to all the other backwards Eastern nations.
Just because people have different forms of government than your own doesn’t make them wrong.

A little too many references to how the East is “barbaric” and not as civilized as the West for my liking but I’ll wait until I’ve read more to pass judgement.
And I hope the author doesn’t turn out to be problematic because the way he writes history gives it life and keeps you reading. Not like the usual boring texts.
