I guess she's been abused but I also don't like how the characters talk. Like they say shit and I keep expecting something to happen. Like emotions at least but nothing happens and it's so weird.

So far it's a confusing mess. He wanted to marry her to get someone to teach his servants and him how high society work... Her being married to him wasn't the end goal. So why go through with it.

And then there's the whole. Oh we are married but not and it's not ok to divorce but we have this special marriage status that allows us to divorce in three years and no bad will come from it.

Finished! I started this while ar the ER (for someone else), and it made for enjoyable spur-of-the-moment reading. It's not great literature or anything, or even all that well written, but it was readable and featured some tropes I enjoy. It was actually kind of annoying to discover that volume 2 isn't available yet.
