Beşir Ayvazoğlu contributed to an alternative history of late Ottoman and early Republican Turkish history. Approaching to generally sidelined intellectuals and their works, he opens up new possibilities in social history. However, this book is lacking since it neglects academic work on Galib (e.g. Victoria Holbrook) and suffers from a religio-nationalist eulogizing.
