There’s some good writing and chuckles in this book, yet it just gets to a point where I don’t care. My favorite character is the camp supervisor who wants to be a writer.

I finished reading Stern and I’m now reading this. Stern was excellent.
I’m halfway through and I can’t wait to finish.
This book should be a short story.
My guess is that that after the success of Stern, the publisher wanted another novel.
The narrative is very funny and absurd, but the jokes and characters (especially the mother, who I liken to Don Rickles in drag) grow stale.
