Started and read the majority of this sitting in the forest, great experience. I like this a lot so far. It's very readable and direct (not like some other poets just wandering around wondering if you'll follow) some of them not blowing me away and some that summarize perfectly thoughts I have had myself. Will probably finish this soon

The Three Oddest Words
When I pronounce the word Future,
the first syllable already belongs to the past.
When I pronounce the word Silence,
I destroy it.
When I pronounce the word Nothing,
I make something no nonbeing can hold.

Loving comparing the translated poems with the original Hungarian. I’m now a firm believer that all translated poems should be accompanied by their original!!!

Other loves
still breathe deep inside me.
This one’s too short of breath even to
sigh.
Yet just exactly as it is,
it does what the others still can’t
manage:
unremembered,
not even seen in dreams,
it introduces me to death.

After a brief stop in English-language poetry, it appears in back to dual-language books, with this Polish-English collection.

« We have a soul at times...
For every thousand conversations
it participates in one,
if even that,
since it prefers silence...
Joy and sorrow
aren’t two different feelings for it.
It attends us
only when the two are joined.
We can count on it
when we’re sure of nothing
and curious about everything. »
