Status Updates From What Will People Say: Poems

This book feels clunky and a little juvenile… I don’t feel like I’m reading poems at all - it feels more like I’m reading a sparksnote of an autobiography. I’m sure there is an audience out there for this style but it’s not me

So far these feel less like poems and more like vignettes. I’m not seeing a a lot of metaphor (or any other literary devices for that matter). All in all, this book just isn’t very interesting so far. I wish it was more intellectually stimulating than it is

when you speak your heart out to a friend and they spill your secrets

when you let someone get close enough to see your tears and they tell you to not be a child
