I didn't realize that E. A. Poe had written the first detective story.

I guess I will have to finally read Kafka... *sigh* I'd been avoiding him.

From previous pages, I love how this author has melded the imagery of this work, almost a graphic novel about Benjamin, to show him literally in conversation with those writers who came before him, via his commentaries and critiques.

On this page, I am intrigued by this idea of culture as a socially-mediated force that can negate the status quo (see Lukacs...).
