Status Updates From The Sparrow (The Sparrow, #1)

Man to call this a slow-burn is almost an understatement. 80% done. Only 100 pages remaining, and still waiting for the shit to hit the fan. We know it happens, and it still terrifies me. I so desperately want for it to not happen - it’s just straight unfathomable denial at this point 🥲

Already forgot to update yesterday, forgot to this morning as well. Book continues to be very existentially confronting. I can’t say anything else has sat with me in quite the same way as this one has. It’s incredible, but also so difficult, but impossible to drop, and yet continuing hurts so much. Crazy the breadth of emotion this thing makes me feel on a moment to moment basis, and the emotions flip constantly.

Intriguing thus far

The weaving and balancing of extraordinary beauty mixed with bits of abject horror is frankly devastating. Rarely have I struggled so much to keep reading something that I so easily also can’t stop reading.

Some more things are slowly bein revealed. The amount of dread I feel reading this book is palpable.
