Two things:
1.6th graders are 11 years old, not 13. Sometimes 12 depending on their birthday.
2. This '13 year old' acts like she's 8 years old. And they're treating her like it.
The office secretaries did what they could for Susan, telling her stories and giving her small bits of candy. And whenever the little girl began feeling down, Jaime reminded her about the good things in life.

Wyatt grinned half timidly and half excitedly.

*tries to grin 'half timidly and half excitedly'* ....Nope, doesn't work.

This book seems to have a surprising lack of commas where they're really needed. I've resorted to having a pencil with me while I read to correct anything.

Okay, who doesn't know what gazelles are? Jaime apparently thinks they are "Those awkward bird things."

It's not getting any better...shame because the underlying story is a good one.

What a pile of rubbish! I bought this because the reviews were glowing; unfortunately, its grasp on reality is so tenuous as to be almost non-existant. It is an insult to all readers' intelligence.
Could an American please tell me what "Twat" means in US English? Characters keep saying "Twat's up?". "Twat" is an *extremely* offensive word in English English.
The formatting is also really bad.
