If Culloden never happened or Prince Charles died, would the highland way of life exist today?

Great moral here: men will do anything to get rich, even betray their family.

Duncan Macgregor is a badass. First he gets captured by English dragoons, then escapes with an injured shoulder (falls 70-80 feet below into a loch), and he's still conscious and able to swim with one arm. I need a man like this in my life.

Wow, I never knew how dedicated Prince Charles Edward Stuart was to Scotland. Just wow!

Wow, Lord Lovat is an asshole. A giant, old, wrinkled, dick (means jerk) who knows no love, or even what it means like to have sympathy or empathy towards people.

Damn, this book is getting so good. Even though the rising of 1715 fails, I am still rooting for the Highlanders to win.

Never trust a man who plays both sides, he will always screw you over.

Poor Rob Macgregor. His wife not only gets raped, his children beaten but now he's outlawed and has to help put James Stewart on the throne. He better get revenge on John Killearn.

Oh my god, this author can write the most heart pounding, nail biting, graphic fight scenes. The Macgregors Gathering I give 5/5 stars (book one). Absolutely loved everything about this book, the characters, writing (took time for me to get used to it), the setting, plot. It's so fantastic!! On to book two: The Clansman.
