I read the 1st edition of this story, several years ago, and I'm looking forward to revisiting this story! The author says that Simon and Francis' storyline has changed a bit, so I'm curious as to what changes were made. Loving the new covers, too!

This book is not at all what I thought it would be. It’s not bad (at all) but I bought it w/o reading the blurb thinking it’d be a continuation of book one, not a new story with different MC’s. I like it, but I’m also disappointed. Oh well. Shoulda read the blurb lol

M/F ROMANCE, labelled partially incorrect. Transphobic content. DNF.
This book has many things that are incredibly problematic. If you're wanting a primary romance that is gay or involves two men, then look elsewhere. The side characters are involved in a m/m relationship, but the main character is in love with a woman.
This wouldn't bother me except for the rampant transphobia that exists within these pages.

“A wise man once told me he looked for three things in a friend—a man who’d cover his back in a fight, who’d loan him money when he was short, and who’d lend a hand when he was blue in the balls."

“Yes,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean it’s a lie.”

I shouldn't have left so much time between books. *sigh* Not nearly enough recap to make the jump back in easy.

4.5 stars. There are several unanswered questions at story's end (a baby? Beth? Frances and Simon really satisfied with that?) but overall A-FUCKING-brilliant. I enjoyed having this to look forward to reading every time I sat down.

Aweww! I want book three! Pretty please, Marie? Jeremiah's story? It can even be het, I won't complain. Much. Maybe Beth? There's something complicated In that girl, right? Not just lazy entitlement?

Love you like a bird loves the sky, a bee loves honey, a fish loves the river.

Finished the sixsome scene. Can't say I liked it but it was believable and not gratuitous porn. I still fear for poor Frances. I understand Simon loves him in his own way, but man, if I were Frances, I'd always be worried about a woman like Lena taking over Frances place in Simon's heart; after all, if he's a (albeit, delightful and wanted) 'receptacle' for Simon's grief-that-is-love-with-no-other-place-to-go....

Oh my LORDIE LOO, THIS IS EXCITING! I love it! And this is a rare story: there are six significant characters and much of the tension is external (man vs nature) but I still love it. Usually, I am loathe to see the introduction of even a third mc, and I want the conflict to be kept to man vs self or man vs man. But the balance is just right in this series.

*spoiler* Oh--another gem like 'I love you like a bird loves the sky': I love you like a bee loves honey. Also, I like Dante's reasoning (again!): Tama, his best friend, doesn't know how to act around Dante's lover now that she knows his lover is a transgendered female. Dante says act like you did before, she (the lover) hasn't changed, only tama has.

The simplicity of Dante's argument back to Cami's dad about what defines gender is a holy thing.
