This strikes me as an important insight:
"...the vast majority of boys have their first 'real' kiss during adolescence.... But these firsts occur alongside of, and coincide with, other typical components of adolescence, such as developing an identity and starting to think conceptually. Those things aren't separate from dating and sexual behavior; they are interrelated, and they mutual influence each other." (p5)
