Status Updates From Poem a Day, Vol. 1

Began reading this book on September 1.

8/17– I liked the poem a little and the footnote a lot. 8/18– Blake! Loooove the melody of his verses. I really would love to read more of his works and perhaps a biography.

8/15– Macbeth sounds a little depressed in Act V there. Hmm maybe I should read some Shakespeare plays. I haven’t really read any since college. 8/16– I may be too tired to get this one. Or maybe I need to read the full poem to understand it.

I liked: August 10, 11, 12. Sonnet 18 by Shakespeare will always be that girl. I did not like so much: August 9, 13, 14 (14 was so close, but he rhymed “wind” and “mind,” and I can’t with that.

August 8th’s poem didn’t resonate with me much, but the footnote provided a new phrase I may adopt (at least as an inside joke with myself) : “I wished at times he would opalesce himself into an iridescent vision.”
